I suddenly remember reading an interview with Cy Curning from the Fixx in Smash Hits when I was a teenager, and in said article, he was railing against Duran Duran's video for "The Reflex," in which he explained that the wave that crests over the video screen is meant to represent a wave of semen that the band wants to spray their audience with.
Not sure why I thought of this right now...
