A craft I didn't fail at...entirely

So now that I am all settled in to life in Pasadena and have some time off from work I really felt it was time to try to do....something...anything! I tend to clean to cope with my control issues and avoidence issues all at once so I just keep cleaning the house.

House clean...must not put off pursuing actual interests...getting stronger...feeling changes! AH!

So it must be time to craft it up.

I just discovered Pintrest. I am a tad obsessed, especially searching for craft ideas. Last night I searched for "felt flowers."(Don't be impressed that I was so focused. I was a bit "loose on the wine" and only got to this search line after doing some rather drunken searches for projects I will never do, like building a night- time observatory/playhouse/sandpit/wedding venue/super collider" in my backyard. Though I did pin that.)

I found this:

Adorable!

I like flowers! I have felt! I have a baby sitter for a few hours!

Let me stop and link you to the site so you can do this too! It is very simple!

Ok, now lets see what I did!

Before we move on, I know what you are thinking.

"Biz, don't forget the Elephant!"

I haven't and neither has the elephant, but this is actually fail proof!!

I cut the pattern out. I prefer to pin my pattern rather than trace it for no particular reason.

Then Presto! (pay no attention to the color of the felt above and the end result. This does not suggest I had to make a 2nd attempt to get one right.)

I told you. The red one survived just fine.

Now, the wonderful site of The Crafted Sparrow suggests hot gluing, but I knew I was going to attach this to a hair clip and felt sewing it together was easier.
Obviously I need leaves. That is what makes it hardcore and keeps me so punk rock. (cough)

Pretty freaking adorable I must say.

I then made like 5 five more...I just have to figure out what to do with them.

hmmmmmmm.

xoxo, Biz

Jackson Browne and Sunshine

Hi PPPA'ers!

Guess what I did this weekend?

Everything.

Why?

Because I now live a magical land called Pasadena where everything is Jackson Browne and sunshine, which causes you to want to go to farmers markets and make jams and pickles and shit. You know...Jackson Browne and sunshine.

So here is what I did this weekend and yes, I am amazing as long as you ignore that the following activities really only took up about 5 hours of my whole weekend while the rest was spent wondering what I am going to do with my life and how to get toddler urine out of my rug, thank you potty training, which is less Jackson Browne and sunshine and more Backstreet Boys and humidity.

Anyway....

Hot Pepper Vinegar!

"Biz! You are a genius!"

No. I put hot peppers and garlic and vinegar in a jar. It's cool but not genius.

Idyllic finger paintings blowing in the wind!

Ok...actually Katy Belle did these earlier in the week and not even with me. It was our awesome sitter who did this with her and hung them so beautifully, but I like to think this was a beautiful mother and daughter moment. I bought the paint.

However, I made these multi-layered pops. Super. Mom.

Later, when I was just about to make dinner, I realized the potatoes were rotten and had to run to the store and was super frustrated and tired and hungry...I got blindsided by the Girl Scouts...of America.

The actual girl scout was lacking what I would call the killer sales instinct...but her mother could smell my desperation the second I started making my way across the parking lot.

That is a bag full of cookies. 6 boxes. I refrained from ripping one open and eating the cookies as I grocery shopped.

Ok, back to beautiful weekend.

Library trip.

Chicken broth.
"Biz, you're a genius!"

No, I threw old vegetables and chicken parts in a pot and simmered it for 4 hours. It's cool.

Onions?

Onions in vinegar and sugar and salt and water?
Presto! No cook pickled onions.
In a classy jar!

Now let's see some herbs.

HERBS!
In a kitchen window, which is totally picture perfect till the bugs come. And the bugs will come. That is why the good lord made them plants. Plants live outdoors.

Wait...my husband just handed me a slice of bread he just made. Jackson Browne and sunshine.

Jackson Browne and sunshine!

XOXO,
Biz
